Happy Holidays and New Year!
As we close out 2025, it's time to look back at what we've accomplished together, and there's a lot to be proud of.
Today, we're dropping LIUNA's latest In The Know: Year In Review, covering the fights we won, the ground we gained, and the power we built as we marched closer to ONE MILLION members.
This year, Laborers Rising took to the streets. In May, hundreds of organizers convened in Austin at our Organizing For Growth Conference. We knocked on doors, walked job sites, and had real conversations with workers about what it means to be in a union. After film and TV production assistants affiliated with LIUNA, they made history by flipping “The Pitt”, the first TV show to be made by unionized PAs, and they're still winning show after show.
Organizing isn't just about new members. It's about strengthening the union we already have. This year we launched member-to-member conversations as a cornerstone of Laborers Rising and held our first-ever Communications Summit at the International. We implemented our new maternity leave policy — and this Spring, the first Laborer received those benefits.
We have faced challenges too. The government shutdown brought chaos and uncertainty, and funding cuts stalled work at jobsites. But Laborers didn't back down. We mobilized. We door knocked in New Jersey and helped elect a pro- union Governor in a landslide. We expanded training programs. Laborers Rising volunteers showed up for our communities after wildfires and tornadoes, gave out turkeys for the holidays, and collected toys for kids who needed them.
This episode is about all of it: the organizing, the policy wins, the storms we weathered, and the solidarity that got us through. It's about why we show up every damn day, lace up our boots, and build something bigger than ourselves.
