RETIREE DUES DO NOT INCREASE!!

December 10, 2021

Dear Brothers and Sisters:

This letter is to inform you that at the November Delegate Meeting of the Laborers’ District Council of Chicago and Vicinity the delegates voted to increase the monthly dues assessed to all members in each Local Union affiliated within the District Council. This increase coincides with the increased costs of representation and per capita tax assessments imposed upon the Local Unions nationwide by the International Union at our last convention and becomes effective January 1, 2022. Please understand that this decision was not made lightly. The last time the monthly dues were increased was approximately 10 years ago.

The new dues structure will be as follows…

There will be an increase of $10.00 per month for all monthly dues. With the increase the new monthly dues rate will be $40.00 per month/$120.00 per quarter or $480.00 per year. This new rate will apply to all dues payments for the calendar year 2022 going forward.

The amount charged for readmission will remain unchanged at $64.00 per month for each month a suspended member falls behind in the payment of their dues. This fee will apply to suspended and partially paid members. This amount is based on the LIUNA Constitution which requires the amount to be eight percent of the initiation fee per month. ($800.00 x .08 x the number of months in arrears).

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our office,  if you have any questions.

In solidarity, I remain

Fraternally Yours,

Peter A. Fosco
